The city of Three Forks is located along the banks of the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin rivers, and is surrounded by several mountain ranges, including the Tobacco Root, Gravelly, and Madison Ranges. The rivers create a stunning backdrop for the town and provide many opportunities for fishing and boating, even river surfing!

The climate in Three Forks is mild and temperate. Summers are usually hot and dry, with temperatures reaching the high 80s and low 90s. Winters are cold and snowy, but temperatures stay above freezing much of the time.

The town of Three Forks was first settled in 1864 by a group of miners who had been prospecting in the area for gold. These miners quickly realized that the area was rich in other resources, such as timber and grassland, so they established a ranch and began raising cattle, sheep and horses.

After the discovery of gold in the area, Three Forks experienced a sharp population increase. This growth was further spurred by the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1880 and the opening of the Central Montana Creameries in 1885.

Three Forks is also home to the historic Sacajawea Hotel, which was built in 1910 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel was named after the famous Shoshone guide who famously helped Lewis and Clark on their expedition to the Pacific in 1805.

In addition to its historical attractions, Three Forks is home to several parks and recreational areas. These include the Madison River Bluffs State Park, which features hiking trails, camping sites and stunning views over the Jefferson River and the stunningly rugged Tobacco Root Mountains.

Today, Three Forks is home to around 1,800 people and is the perfect place to experience the beauty of the Montana landscape. With its picturesque scenery, rich history and excellent recreation opportunities, Three Forks is a wonderful place to or live.
