The Continental Divide goes through the middle of Montana. This creates vastly different topography and weather between Western Montana and Eastern Montana. Western Montana is more mountainous with trees, streams, and rivers.
Two different Multiple Listing Services cover Western Montana, the Big Sky MLS predominantly covers from the Continental Divide west to Highway 15 which covers cities like Butte and Helena. The Regional MLS predominantly covers the western portion of the state including Missoula, Kalispell, and everything west of the border. There is quite a bit of overlap between the two MLS systems, however.
