Lolo sits at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 93 and is the first town in the Bitterroot Valley about ten minutes south of Missoula. It sits along the Bitterroot River, a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream, and Lolo Creek flowing through the Selway-Bitterroot National Forest and Bitterroot Mountain Range. Up Lolo Creek you’ll find naturally occurring hot springs, hiking trails, and lots of places to pick Morell Mushrooms in the spring. Lolo Creek is a wonderful place for kids and adults alike to learn and perfect fly fishing techniques. Further along Highway 12 you’ll reach Lolo Pass with peaks reaching nearly 10,000 feet (about twice the elevation of Denver, Colorado), a Mecca for snow sport enthusiasts. Much of the area is open to snowmobiling.
