Cut Bank was founded in 1891 with the arrival of the Great Northern Railway and is the County Seat of Glacier County.

Cut Bank, Montana, is a small town nestled in the northern part of the Rocky Mountain Front. It was founded in the late 1800s as a railroad town and became an important hub for the Great Northern Railway. Cut Bank is home to a variety of historical sites, from the first US Post Office in Montana to the iconic Hotel Cut Bank.

The Great Northern Railway was founded in 1889 and quickly expanded across the northern part of the state. It was the first transcontinental railroad line in the United States and an important transportation link for the new state of Montana. As the railway grew, so did the town of Cut Bank. With the help of the Great Northern, the town saw its population soar and its economy boom.

The first US Post Office in Montana was built in Cut Bank in 1891. This post office served as the main hub for mail delivery in the area, making Cut Bank an important center of communication and commerce. Historic Hotel Cut Bank was constructed in 1903 and quickly became the best place to stay in the region.

The town of Cut Bank also has an interesting cultural history. There was a large Indian encampment situated near Cut Bank in the late 1800s, and the town has been home to a variety of indigenous cultures since then. The town has also seen its share of famous visitors, including Teddy Roosevelt.
