Bonner

Featured City Bonner

Bonner, Montana, just a few miles from downtown Missoula, was once a thriving mill town built around one of Montana’s first sawmills. Nestled in the mountains, Blackfoot River flowing by, now those mill buildings and warehouses are used for other things – even a bitcoin mine. The original mill worker's homes are still standing and sit along the Blackfoot River, which was used to float logs to downriver destinations and is a Blue-Ribbon Trout Fishing Stream. The town was named after E.L. Bonner, an early Missoulian and first president of the Missoula and Bitterroot Valley Railroad (1888). In Salish, the local native language, the town was originally named “Home of the Big Bull Trout”.

Montana Highway 12 runs through Bonner and is a central artery in the Montana Highway System. Bonner is home to an events amphitheater that holds over 6,000 people and brings popular entertainers and musical acts throughout the summer season.
