Big Sky, Montana is the largest unincorporated town in the United States, located in Gallatin County. This quaint mountain town has an impressive history that dates back thousands of years.

The first human inhabitants of the area now known as Big Sky were the Shoshone Indians, who lived in the area until the late 1700s. In the late 1800s, settlers began to move in, largely attracted by the abundance of wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and the promise of a better future.

In the late 1950s, a ski resort was built in the area, Big Sky ski area, bringing in thousands of tourists. This created an economic boom for the town and its surrounding areas, which continues to this day. The population has grown rapidly in recent years. Today, the town boasts a population of over 8,000.
