Sula

Featured City Sula

Just south of Darby on the way to Lost Trail Powder Mountain,  Lost Trail Hot Springs and the rugged Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, you come to the small town of Sula. Lewis and Clark first passed through the area in September 1805. In March of 1824, Alexander Ross of the Hudson Bay Trading Company was caught in a snow storm. They waited for a month for the southern passes to clear. It was such a miserable month that they named the area The Valley of Troubles and it became known as Ross' Hole. Ursula Thompson was the first white child born in the area and it was renamed Sula after her.

The Sula basin is still comprised of large ranches and wide-open views. Traveling through, you may be detained by a herd of big horn sheep that will meander right up to your car. Eagles and hawks will swoop down in front of you and then soar up completely out of sight. There are rivers and streams with mountain backdrops in nearly every direction.

The population of this southwestern Montana community is usually in the teens. Nearby neighbors and Highway 93 travelers love the amenities however - all of them. But don't blink or you'll miss them! The Sula community is comprised of a gas station, post office and a bar. That’s it!

Perfect Home Finder

Today, many local real estate sites provide you with comprehensive searches of publicly listed properties from one or more Multiple Listing Services. Therefore, instead of reinventing the same wheel, we are utilizing Homes.com for the local listings and actually belong to a nationwide MLS.

It's important to note that many homes are sold before they officially hit the market. With our exclusive Perfect Home Finder Program, you can access unlisted and pre-market homes tailored to your specific needs in your desired locations. We uncover off-market properties that no one else is aware of, much like savvy investors do. This unique service is proprietary, so reach out to West Montana Homes to simplify your home search.
